Mr. Chen Jian, Deputy Minister of Commerce, and Mr. Hiroyuki Ishige, Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, co-chaired the 13th session of Regular Consultations at Deputy-Minister Level of China Mofcom and Japan METI , jointly sponsored by Mofcom of China and METI of Japan, on May 20 in Beijing. The two sides candidly exchanged views over world economic situation, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, and regional and multi-lateral cooperation.
The two sides reached consensus that it is of great importance for Japan and China to strengthen cooperation and joint efforts to address the international financial crisis. They also exchanged views over such issues as technology trade, SMEs, IPRs, logistics and distribution, trade policies, investment environment, exchange in legal sector, China-Japan-Korea FTA, China-Japan-Korea investment agreement, action plan on business-environment improvement, and cooperation with third country. Chinese side stressed its principle position on Japan’s control over its export to China.
Regular Consultations at Deputy Minister Level between Mofcom and METI is a high-level consultation and exchange mechanism between Chinese and Japanese government authorities on business. It was inaugurated in 1990 by former Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of PRC and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. |
